Bowers & Wilkins Announces New P3 Headphones | Looks Beautiful

Bowers & Wilkins doesn't make many headphones, but when it does, they're usually very good and fairly expensive. The B&W P5 headphones from 2010 earned PCMag's Editors' Choice for their excellent sound quality and design. The company is now returning to on-ear headphones with its new P3 model.

The headphones use acoustic cloth and memory foam on-the-ear cups, which according to Bowers & Wilkins, both make the headphones more comfortable and improves the audio quality. The P5 headphones also used memory foam, and we noted that pair for its comfortable design. While B&W has not yet announced the size and weight of the P3 headphones, it said that they are smaller and lighter than the P5 version, which weighed only 6.3 ounces. But unlike the P5 headphones, the P3 model will be able to fold up for carrying in a jacket pocket.

We were impressed by the P5 headphones's powerful and accurate bass response, and general sound quality. Since the P3 headphones seem to use similar technology in the construction of both the ear cups and the drivers, we can expect similar performance from them.

The Bowers & Wilkins P3 headphones will come with two different cables (one with an iPhone/iPad remote), a 3.5mm to 6.3mm adapter, and a hard shell case. They will be available in black and white versions this June, and retail for $199.99, $100 less than the P5 headphones.
